Human Resources has established a new paid parental leave benefit to allow new and existing benefits-eligible employees two weeks of paid leave following the birth or adoption of a child. Effective October 1, 2024, this paid parental leave benefit has been expanded to six weeks of paid leave following the birth or adoption of a child.
The paid parental leave program will require a minimum of one year of continuous benefits-eligible employment status directly preceding eligibility. In their June 2022 meeting, the OU Board of Regents approved this benefit and it is set to be implemented September 1, 2022.
Paid parental leave has been a top initiative for Staff Senate for many years. We recognize and appreciate all their hard work and dedication on this leave enhancement for OU employees.
