We are Amanda Withrow, Amanda Siew and Amanda Coleman from the Strategic Communication Department at Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication, and we invite you to participate in our research entitled Long-Term Effects of Cancel Culture on Brand Perception. This research is being conducted at the University of Oklahoma. You were selected as a possible participant because you are a Millennial. You must be 18+ years of age to participate in this research.

What is the purpose of this research? This research aims to gather insights on perceptions of canceled brands and controversial advertisements amongst Millennials.
How many participants will be in this research? Up to 200 participants will take part in this research.
What will I be asked to do? If you agree to be in this research, you will complete a 15-20 minutes online survey. You are required to respond only to the first question.
What are the risks and benefits if I participate? There are some risks to participating in this research.
Questions that could be emotionally distressing: We will ask you to answer questions that may make you upset or trigger strong emotional reactions. If these questions make you feel uncomfortable, you do not have to provide an answer, or you can discontinue participation in the research. If you experience any distress as a result of the survey, you can also contact the OU University Counseling Center at 405-325-2911 or https://www.ou.edu/ucc/. There are no benefits from being in this research.
Will I be compensated for participating? You will not be reimbursed for your time and participation in this research
Who will see my information? There will be no information in research reports that will make it possible to identify you. Research records will be stored securely, and only approved researchers and the OU Institutional Review Board will have access to the records.
Do I have to participate? No. If you do not participate, you will not be penalized or lose benefits or services unrelated to the research. If you decide to participate, you don't have to answer any questions and can stop participating at any time.
Will my identity be anonymous or confidential? Your responses will be confidential.
What will happen to my data in the future? We will not share your de-identified data with other researchers or use it in future research without obtaining additional consent from you.
