Title of Study- Desi Queer Transnational Scholars and Navigating Sense of Belongingness in Academia through Kataikaḷ

Hi friends! My name is Madhunika Suresh and I am a PhD candidate in Adult and Higher Education at the University of Oklahoma. I am looking for folx to share their stories with me for my research study titled Desi-South Asian Queer Transnational Scholars and Navigating Belongingness in Academia through Kataikaḷ (stories). This study seeks to understand how Desi-South Asian, Queer transnational graduate students navigate sense of belongingness in academia.

Criteria for participation-
Self-identify as Desi/South Asian, Queer, and Transnational.
Current graduate student (all levels and types welcome) in the field of education (higher ed, special ed, learning sciences, etc.)

What is the purpose of this research? This research aims to understand how Desi-South Asian Queer scholars navigate a sense of belonging in academia.

What will I be asked to do? If you agree to be in this research, you will be asked to participate in three stages of the study. The first is an in-depth, one-on-one interview with me. The second is an Expression Session in a take home format for which I will provide you with instructions if you choose to participate after your individual interviews. The last part of the study is a follow-up interview after you have completed the expression session.

How long will this take? Your participation in the first stage will take between 40-60 minutes. The expression session is a take home format with a return time of about a week. And the follow up interview will take between 20-30 minutes.

Will I be compensated for participating? You will be reimbursed for your time and participation in this research. For each stage you will receive $10 for a total of $30 that you will receive at the end of the study.
